Google’s Pixel 3 is in the market for quite a bit longer time, and my adopters of the Pixel 3 had mixed reviews. Which kind of making Pixel 4 a very high hopes to get all the upgrades on the hardware and especially the big ‘notch’ (kid of started by Apple iPhone) whereas OnePlus did a smart move with 6t devices to give a drop notch and a camera that almost beat Pixel’s camera, on the go.

But today I am not writing to tell the difference between OnePlus, Pixel and iPhone. By the title of this blog post you may have guessed that I’ll be touching those points that do tell if you already own a Pixel 2 or 2 XL devices then upgrading to Pixel 3/3-XL isn’t a good move. Whereas for Pixel 1 users is a good and powerful upgrade, if you want to retain the Pixel flagship standard.

• Big Notch:

  

From the start of Pixel 3 there was the buzz around with the Notch on top of the phone and few leaks before the launch showed that too. Whereas Google was clever at the launch event and used those wallpapers and demos on the screen that almost hide the big notch.

I personally don’t prefect the notch on any phone, I would prefer to have a clean look. Notch somehow gives the feel of something extra has been added which may not give aesthetically correct feel of a smartphone.

• Software upgrades are the same:

It was already announced at the launch event that all the software patches and upgrades will reach Pixel 2 users also so buying a new hardware to get all the software updates isn’t a good option in this case. Even though I am also enjoying those new features and upgrades on my Pixel 2 XL, especially on the camera upgrades, with option to edit depth level in Portrait Mode photos surely made my photography level a little upgrade

Jokes apart, all the software level things are same on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 so it makes a big reason for all the Pixel 2 users for not to go for a Pixel 3 device.

• Snapdragon 845 SoC and same RAM space:

Processor is the key essence of any flagship phone and Google actually used Snapdragon 845 processor in Pixel 3 which was the greatest processor when device got launched. But this same SoC is present in Pixel 2 devices too, so processing speed is still the same. You may feel the same response on both the devices. Even though RAM Is still 4-GB LPDDR4X on both the devices which makes Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 equally fast for all the tasks.

The only upgrade that Pixel 3 gave in this section is GPU. Google has Adreon 630 GPU in this new device whereas Pixel 2 had Adreon 540, which is a good upgrade, as it makes a good Gaming and Multimedia experience, but still not convincing enough for a Pixel 2 user to change it’s device.

Moreover the looks and gripping both phones together may not give powerful upgraded feel. Even though Camera is really good in Pixel 3 as Bokeh in this has really good depth and sensors reviews are cool. But again most of the look-n-feel and software level things are still the same in Pixel 2 and Pixel 3. So if you’re not in Pixel flagship league or Pixel 1 owner want Pixel 3 then do it now.
