Apple knows how to showcase a product. They are the kings in that area. Apple in their last Special Event launched a number of products including Airtag, iPad Pro, iPhone 12 Purple, Apple TV 4k, and the most fascinating product was the new iMacs. The colorful newly designed iMacs powered with Apple’s own silicon M1 SoCs.
The color iMacs isn’t something new. In the early 2000s, we witnessed colorful iMacs for the first time as G3. It’s like that feeling again. Having great iMacs on your desk with a colorful vibe to it. But the change is not just limited to colors. This time iMacs are slimmer than ever, these have the best processors M1 (as mentioned earlier), offer the same colored magic keyboard with Touch ID, magic mouse, trackpad, and cables. And the power brick also has an ethernet LAN port.
The new iMacs are available in Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Blue, Purple, and Silver colors. I personally like Purple and Orange colors the most as they are soothing my eyes. Well, the most important thing about these iMacs are their “slimness”, these are just 11.5 mm thin and that is as-thin-as an Apple Watch. With this Apple some managed built-in great speakers, those got same bass in them.
This time iMacs have 2 configuration variety. One is a base model which offers limited only Two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports that supports:
- DisplayPort,
- Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40 Gbps),
- USB 4 (up to 40 Gbps),
- USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps),
- Thunderbolt 2, HDMI, DVI and VGA supported using adapters
With this in the base model will have limitation over Storage of (256 GB SSD), CPU/GPU (Apple M1 chip with 8-core CPU, and 7-core GPU with 16-core Neural Engine), and Magic Keyboard will also come without TouchID.
Apparently, if you put in some extra money you will get the true beast configurations of these iMacs. Some of the key things are:

Accessories: Magic Mouse/Keyboard (with Touch ID), Trackpad, 143W power adapter, Power cord, and USB-C to lighting cable

So when it comes to looks the new Apple iMacs are just awesome. They are thin and light, colored all around, Bezels are White and that’s what I like a lot as most of the time you’re on screen and white bezels doesn’t let you distract from the screen, Apple logo at the back is much bigger than ever I think this is the biggest Apple logo on any Apple device I have ever seen, and Audio jack on the side is win-win for the users. I always wanted it on side but in earlier models it was on the back. Apple has build these iMacs so slim that for Audio module they had switch and placed it in the left-lower-side of the iMac.
Power connection at the back makes it a super clean look. Also if you’re going for the LAN ethernet port that will come in the charging brick, which again will give more cleaner look to the iMac.
Even though the iMacs on GeekBench showed decent reports for the performance. The base model showed a little lesser performance in comparison to M1 Macbook Pro but better than M1 Macbook Air. Whereas the full Tech-speced-out iMac crossed all the limits because of extra GPU core and showed best performing metrics on Geekbench and Cinebench both. Even better the M1 Macbook Pro.
This was a surprise for me as the processor or the silicon is same in the Macbook Pro and the iMac. So I was not expecting performance related changes. Whereas the metrics had very less change but it was there.
I recommend the new Apple iMacs for good content creators go-to machine. This will give the best Finalcut Pro and iMovie performance in comparison to any Mac. Plus, with great looks Apple iMac will give your desk a great look.
